Congresswoman Martha McSally (AZ-R) may be finding herself in a world of hurt. Recent polls show that her approval rating is in the toilet along with Trump’s. However, her ratings are the least of her troubles at the moment.
Last week, McSally spoke to the Arizona’s Bankers Association at a private luncheon. She was trying to wheedle some funds for her campaign. She had a lot to say about Donald Trump and his tweets. In the meeting, she stated that Trump’s tweets and distractions were being taken out on her and her colleagues because they “Republican” by their names.
It’s basically being taken out on me. Any Republican member of Congress, you are going down with the ship. And we’re going to hand the gavel to Pelosi in 2018, they only need 28 seats and the path to that gavel being handed over is through my seat. And right now, it doesn’t matter that it’s me, it doesn’t matter what I’ve done. I have an ‘R’ next to my name and right now, this environment would have me not prevail.
That sounds a lot like Donald Trump, doesn’t it? When your ratings are in the shitter, blame someone else. If a Republican actually told the truth about their performance, I would be hospitalized for shock. Accountability is not their strong suit.
These comments were brought to light when five members of Indivisible Southern Arizona ordered tickets to the luncheon. Four of the five tickets were revoked because part of the McSally camp recognized their names. One member did manage to hang onto their ticket and get a coveted seat. That savvy member recorded McSally’s entire speech and gave it to Tuscon Daily. Damn! We do love inventive Democrats in the resistance.
McSally was entirely more blunt in many of her comments behind closed doors than she typically is when questioned on issues in public settings. In fact, she expressed frustration that her constituents ask her to comment on what President Trump says and does.
There’s just an element out there that’s just, like, so against the president. Like they just can’t see straight. And all of a sudden on January 20, I’m like his twin sister to them. And I’m, like, responsible for everything he does, and tweets and says.
Poor, poor Martha. Maybe if your party had, like, picked a better candidate, your Republican ass wouldn’t be in this predicament. We have no sympathy. According to the Indivisible Southern Arizona, McSally does not want to hold any town halls with her constituents but will go out of district to talk to people like the Banker’s Association. She’s just chasing that almighty dollar, like Trump. Now, we just have the proof. We are doubting this tape will help her in her approval ratings. Good luck with that, Martha.
